Cave Exploring
A couple of weeks ago Cori came home excited to tell me that he had booked us an all day tour to go cave exploring. I've never thought about going cave exploring before so although I was a little excited about the adventure aspect of it, I was also a little apprehensive about the idea. I didn't know what to expect. All I could picture was us in the cave during an earthquake and being stuck inside and having horrible movie type things happen to us. Cori says I always think about bad stuff...it just keeps my mind busy is all :) Our cave exploring adventure started a little too early in the morning for my liking, but nevertheless off we are headed on a tour bus with about 10 other "cave explorers". Any drive that we ever take off base is incredibly beautiful. This is one place I don't mind driving around in for hours, I entertain myself enough by just staring out the window at all the Japanese culture and the magnificent views. Once we arrived at our destination we were asked to put on our helmet and our "life line" which happened to be the small little flashlight attached to our helmets. Without this small amount of light we would all be lost in the abyss of the cave. Here I go thinking again..."what if everyone's battery runs out and we are all stuck in this cave for days without food or water". Now THAT would be a blog worth writing/reading about! Off into the cave we go...I must say it was actually pretty scary. There is nothing in these caves except water, awesome rock formations, and bats. We spent about two hours manuevering our way through these underwater caves and there were times were the water reached right under our chins (well mine since I'm pretty much a midget). There were also times where we had to crawl on our hands and knees to get through some passages which there was barely enough room to crawl through. Talk about feeling like you are going to freak out. Speaking of freaking out...at one point a bat flew right infront of my face and I kid you not it's wing touched my nose. I of course being who I am screamed bloody murder and pretty much made our whole group pee themselves scared. I don't know what it is about me and screaming? It's just a natural reaction I have. Oh well. After everyone realized they weren't being attacked my the bloody cave monster I KNOW we all envisioned being in there, we all started laughing at how funny the situation actually was. We came to a point in our cave exploring adventure where we all sat down on some rocks and the tour guide made us all turn off our helmet lights. We all sat in complete darkness for a couple of minutes and it was an experience I've never had before. Complete darkness was completely eerie until Cori and I found eachother's faces and started kissing. It was pretty awesome kissing eachother in pitch darkness although we probably resembled those desperate people on that stupid tv show "dating in the dark". Our cave exploring adventure ended with a beautiful picnic overlooking some breathtaking ocean views. Ah, Okinawa does make us so very happy. I would tell all of you to go cave exploring with us when you come visit but I know better....Sorry girls, some of you just don't have what it takes :) For the rest of ya'll....You'll LOVE it!!!!

That looks so cool. At first, I thought you were a badass for doing this but then I noticed the 10 year old boy in the first picture. He really ruins your cred.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you get to do stuff like this. You should make a scrapbook of your Okianawa life. You have so many fun pictures.
