OUCH!!!

The much awaited time had arrived...my wisdom teeth extraction. I've been told by several dentists for the past who knows how many years that my wisdom teeth needed to come out. So what a better time to remove them than when living in Japan and not having to pay a SINGLE dime for the oh so expensive procedure?! Feb 8 goes down in history as one of my most ill feeling days. Let's just say that going into the surgery I was very apprehensive and nervous but realized thanks to all the accounts I'd heard/read of that I most likely would not remember the surgery and I would most likely be asleep throughout the whole thing. LIKELY is the key term in the last sentence since I CLEARLY wasn't asleep throughout the procedure and I DEFINITELY remember everything. I won't exaggerate and say it was painful because for the most part it was a very uncomfortable yet painless procedure however there were times where it did hurt and I made sure they knew it. I was given the anesthesia through an IV which for some crazy reason did not work on me. I think this is the most terrifying thing to know...Anesthesia does not work on my body. Will research further into this before I have any other kind of surgery or procedure in the future. Once the two hours of torture (exaggerating) was over, my beloved husband and dear friend, Linda, were by my side to take me home and deal with the aftermath the surgery took on my body. Heaps of blood, bile, snot, and saliva later.... I slept to awake the next morning feeling 80% better!! Yay! The horror only lasted one day. Since then it's been a pretty fast process of healing. The swelling eventually died down and the days came where I didn't have to take Motrin to calm my pounding headaches. I am so relieved that my healing process was a speady one and that I had Cori by my side the whole time to make sure I was okay. For those of you who have yet to get your wisdom teeth removed...take this piece of advice: Don't listen to what other people tell you about their experience. Everyone is different and everyone will have a different experience. Just be prepared for the best and the worst and follow the Dentist's orders :) Writing to you from a now "Wiseless" brain....Paloma :)
