Update of all Updates

I am going to apologize in advance for the lengthy post you are about to read. It's been 9 months since I have sat down and written to update all of you on everything in the Bemis life. There is lots and lots to tell.

For starters, we have been living in Germany now for 8 months. It took some adjusting, but it is finally starting to feel like home. Okinawa however has never left my heart and I secretly plot to one day make it back there and live out a couple more years on the beautiful island. Three years in paradise was not enough. Germany is night/day compared to Okinawa. It is beautiful in every way that Okinawa is not. I can't help but feel so blessed to be able to experience all of these different countries as my home. I really think I was meant for it. We've made friends in Germany that I already know will be friends for a lifetime. I can't help but feel a sense of dread that one day I will lose them like I lost my Okinawa family. Oh the perks of living the military life.

We spent Thanksgiving at home with a bunch of friends. Our beautiful friend, Alexa, visited us from Italy and we spent the days after Thanksgiving in Belgium. Brussels is an amazing city and we could NOT stop eating waffles, oysters, french fries, chocolates, you name it. If only I could have had a taste of their beer, it would have made the trip complete (guess I'll have to go back). Which brings me to my next point....

For those of you who don't know already, we are expecting baby boy number #2!!!! Phenix is due to grace us with his presence on the 22nd of June. We couldn't be happier to give Cai a little brother to play with and a forever friend. Our family is quickly growing, and it's exhilarating and terrifying at the same time! Boys are quickly outnumbering me in this household.  There is not a day that goes by that I don't look at my boys (Cori and Cai oh and Lincoln too) and feel a surge of happiness run through my veins. How can I possibly love more? Guess I'll just have to make room ;)

Christmas was spent at home (just the three of us) and New Years Eve was spent on a plane on our way to Chile. As most of you know, Cori's birthday is on new years eve. He celebrated his birthday on a plane, with an almost two year old son, a pregnant wife, going to a country I am sure he never thought he would visit. Life sure does surprise us. We spent two weeks in Chile enjoying our family, friends, and amazing Chilean food. It was such a great vacation. I can't explain how grateful I was to spend time with my grandparents and family that I haven't seen in years. I am so glad Cori and Cai had the opportunity to see where I grew up and catch a glimpse of the culture that has partially molded me into who I am today. I don't think we've eaten so much in a two period of time, ever!

After Chile, Cori flew back to Germany while Cai and I made our way to California for three weeks. We got to spend some quality time with my family and friends. I was also able to take care of some things that I HAD to be in CA to do. We flew to Baltimore to stay a night with my uncle and then took a hop back to Germany. Remember the story about Lincoln in my last flight from Baltimore to Germany? Well I will spare you the details on this particular flight, but I'll leave it at this.....I was covered in Cai's projectile vomit from head to toe. I swear I can't catch a break on these stupid flights.

So what are we up to now you ask? Cori had surgery in February on his shoulder. The surgery went well and he got to spend a month at home with us healing. He has started going to physical therapy to get the mobility back. He isn't anywhere near what was once "normal" but he has made A LOT of progress. It is just a matter of time. He is now back at work and trying to figure out what the next step will be in his military career. There are so many options of what can happen in the near future. We've just learned to take it day by day and keep a positive outlook on everything.

Cai turned the big ol' TWO in March! My goodness how time flies. He is the sweetest, most active, and happy boy I've ever met. He loves to give hugs and kisses, dance, eat (this boy can put down some serious food!), climb, jump, throw himself into the couch, run, play outside, poop, sleep, and everything else a typical two year old enjoys doing. He loves water and is a daredevil. He is starting to talk more and more now which is cute and amusing at the same time. He loves his baby brother. He asks me to kiss my belly daily, but when he is done he says "bye bye" and pulls down my shirt to "put him away". We'll see how well he reacts when he realizes he can't just make Phenix go bye bye whenever he wants once he is born. Cori and I both agree that he is going to be a jealous one, but we also feel he is going to be loving and helpful since that is his character anyways. Only time will tell.

Monday I start week 7 of 12 in my student teaching practicum. I am almost done!! This is the last step in completing my Masters program in Special Education. I can't believe that by this summer I will be officially done with this degree that I've simultaneously conquered while starting my own business and becoming a first time mommy. It's been a long roller coaster of a ride but I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I want to make my family proud and I am hoping they know how much of this was done for them and our future. My experience so far has been nothing short of amazing. My teacher is such a joy to work with and I know I have a created a lifelong friend and mentor in her. There is an opening at our school next year for a part-time teaching position. I am working to complete all of my paperwork in time so I can be eligible to apply. It would be the perfect job as it would allow me to dive into the teaching world, while at the same time being able to spend a good amount of quality time with my boys at home. Crossing my fingers. Please pray that Phenix doesn't decide to make his debut early and that I am able to finish these last 5 weeks of school without any complications in my pregnancy. So far so good.

Well I pretty much think that sums it up for the past 9 months. I told you there was so much to share!! Last weekend I had a wonderful baby shower thrown by some great friends, and this weekend I get to celebrate Mother's day with my beautiful family. God continues to work in our lives daily and He has shown his grace and love to my family and I through good times and bad. I am so thankful for all of you! If we haven't crossed paths recently, I am sure we soon will. We love you and like always appreciate your friendship, love, and support.
